Ute vs Roo
26 July 2005 23:27Dad hit a kangaroo on the way home. The roo was a big male, about 7 feet tall. Mum and Dad are lucky the animal bounced right over the top and didn't come through the windscreen.
They're okay, but the ute and the kangaroo are totalled.

Well, bugger. But the company needed a new truck anyway. Now the accountant will let us buy it.

Date: 26 Jul 2005 14:00 (UTC)I've never seen a ute without a roo bar win. Sometimes both the ute and the roo lose.

Date: 26 Jul 2005 14:15 (UTC)There are only "one" (set) of your parents; there are millions of roos.
Be glad your parents came out on top (and that the wayward roo went "over the top"---)
BTW, what kind of truck was that? GM, Ford, Izusu, etc.?

Date: 26 Jul 2005 14:49 (UTC)Batty, might be an idea to make sure that the NEXT ute has a roobar on it, cos y'know, Those roos are damn scary at the best of times, when they're coming at you at a fair rate of speed, Ouch
Glad that yer mum'n dad are okay though *nods*

Is the truck really in that bad of shape? It looks to me like the only damage is to the hood. Or did the whole engine compartment slide back a bit?
Have the best

Date: 27 Jul 2005 00:38 (UTC)Left and right mudguards are pushed back to make it hard to open the doors, the radiator is pushed back but not enough to hit the fan, and the A/C is totalled. meh. it's winter. There are no fluid leaks, the battery and electrics are still okay but the headlights a spotting for possums now.
The truck is 8 years old and has done 400,000km. Could be a write-off on economic grounds. (And a new truck would be nice. 8) )
The important thing is that Mum and Dad are okay, if a little shaken.
