Ute vs Roo
26 July 2005 23:27Dad hit a kangaroo on the way home. The roo was a big male, about 7 feet tall. Mum and Dad are lucky the animal bounced right over the top and didn't come through the windscreen.
They're okay, but the ute and the kangaroo are totalled.

Well, bugger. But the company needed a new truck anyway. Now the accountant will let us buy it.

Date: 26 Jul 2005 14:00 (UTC)I've never seen a ute without a roo bar win. Sometimes both the ute and the roo lose.

Date: 26 Jul 2005 14:15 (UTC)There are only "one" (set) of your parents; there are millions of roos.
Be glad your parents came out on top (and that the wayward roo went "over the top"---)
BTW, what kind of truck was that? GM, Ford, Izusu, etc.?

Date: 26 Jul 2005 14:49 (UTC)Batty, might be an idea to make sure that the NEXT ute has a roobar on it, cos y'know, Those roos are damn scary at the best of times, when they're coming at you at a fair rate of speed, Ouch
Glad that yer mum'n dad are okay though *nods*

Date: 26 Jul 2005 17:15 (UTC)Most of those are fat, soft and at best will only crack a windshield. The old ones, however, move slowly enough that even a novice driver can "score a kill" with only a minimum of driving prowness...
Bunting an athletic one of breeding age, though, garners the most points, and oftentimes takes exceptional skill---
"Pre-breeding age" targets are off-limits, and bagging one of those gets you ejected from the game (and buried UNDER the jail---)
Ciao!

Date: 26 Jul 2005 19:04 (UTC)Seriously, though, while it's sad to hit critters on the road (other than prarie dogs...), it's a relief that your parents are ok, Batty.
Is the truck really in that bad of shape? It looks to me like the only damage is to the hood. Or did the whole engine compartment slide back a bit?
Have the best

Date: 26 Jul 2005 20:17 (UTC)It's done almost 500,000km and was well overdue for replacement.
roo bar / bull bar
Date: 26 Jul 2005 20:25 (UTC)here is a move to have bull bars banned from city vehicles. Can't think why.
Re: roo bar / bull bar
Date: 26 Jul 2005 21:02 (UTC)Whacking some j-walking bozo with a big "bull bar-sporting" truck would, no doubt, spoil said bozo's day--- *evil grin*
BTW, I *like* the bars that ARB sells! Those are the "real deal", unlike some of the "for looks only" rigs many trucks and SUVs -- usually the ones that never leave the pavement -- sport over here.

Date: 26 Jul 2005 22:33 (UTC)gotta be bolted Firmly to the chassis for me to even THINK that it's a good thing
But then again, you get the bogans, in their utes, with the Mack Truck Bullbars, and it just looks wrong, Really Really Wrong..
