Now... What to do with all the avocado the bat doesn't want. Hmmmm.

Vegemite would be BAD for bats. Way too much salt and yeast.

My favourite way to eat avocados is to sprinkle on some salt and pepper, and scoop the fruit out with a spoon.

That's my second-favorite way to eat avocados. My first favorite is guacamole.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Guacamole time!

Granted, I don't know how this will affect the bats, but if you add a small amount of lemon juice to smashed avacado, it won't turn brown. So what you could do would be smash up the flesh of an avacado, add a few drops of lemon juice, and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. Then you could at least have it last a few days, I'd think

You needed an EXCUSE to buy avacado?!? :>

(Actually, oddly, the only way I like avacado is in guacamole, but that I LOVE!)

More a justification. Any old excuse will do.

Guacamole! Woohoo! (I don't really like avocado or guacamole, but that's the most obvious thing to do with leftover avocado).

Well, you could try http://www.kayshapero.net/kaysongs.htm#things ... (This all started out when a poster to rec.music.filk mentioned a line they'd accidentally sung to their voice teacher when they were supposed to be doing "How are things in Glocca morra"...)

A classic avacado salad is to serve it on the half shell with the hole (minus pit) filled with some sort of vinagrette dressing. Another salad is alternative slices of avocado and grapefruit. If you want to go Californian you can eat it on a hamburger, with or without sprouts. I prefer guacamole, myself. Hmmm, time to go to the store:D........

Well

From what I understand, bird enthusiasts avoid avocado like the plague because of something something chemical in it toxic to avians. I guess that risk doesn't transfer over to small mammals, though?

What suprises me is that the small bats are insecivores and yet will eat avocado.

Why? I realize a bat is not a pet, but from my limited experiences with the pets we had as a kid is that animals will eat strange things. I had a cat that liked cooked spinach, but you had to put lemon juice on it. Or the dog that we had that had a thing for apricots. I dont see why a bat might not like it.

Everyone is suggesting guacamole, which is good. You can also slice it up and make an "asian burrito" with a rice paper wrap that has basil, avacado, basil, maybe some lettuce, and shredded carrot in it. I have been doing that for about a week now. It's yummy. I dont know if you can get the big rice paper sheets in Dubbo though. You could also do that with a tortilla. I prefer the rice paper sheet thingys.

I can't think of anything to do with that much avocado -- you'll just have to chuck it. Sorry, dude.
