Essential Supplies
29 October 2008 22:33I Called in at the new bottle shop on the way home to pick up some essential supplies. Some Coopers, I thought, that vintage ale was rather yummy and a six-pack would go down a treat. The new shop is huge! It's like a food supermarket, but with alcohol. I haven't seen anything like this since I was in Dubai Airport.
I walked past the rows of Scotch and headed for the beers. Coopers! Pale Ale, Sparkling Ale and Vintage! mmmmm. Oh my goodness! They have all the James Squire beers! Porter, IPA, Amber! Ooooh! Look at all those imported beers! Beers with Cyrillic and Sanskrit labels. Also Ashi, Sapporo, Bintang. Tiger. Samuel Adams! Newcastle Brown! Kilkenny! VELTINS! Wait... is that Tui? It is! And... Monteiths! MONTEITHS BLACK! EEEEEEE!I'll have a six pack of that!
And then I saw it.
Old Speckled Hen. OLD SPECKLED HEN!
I Squeed. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HEEE HEE HEEEEEEEEE! I hugged the shelves. I grabbed a sixpack and headed for the checkout.
My fridge has Monteiths Black and Old Speckled Hen.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HEEE HEE HEEEEEEEEE!

The stuff is addictive and goes well with beer, soda, or just plain munchie attacks.
I'm taking some with me next time I visit my Indiana relations.
They'll be amused, no doubt;).

Just as a random one though, Singha is surprisingly good, and is an odd occurrence where the export version is significantly better than the local version.
