ha ha!

my friend [livejournal.com profile] _aaronj is a chef, and he told me about this recipe (http://loic.livejournal.com/92393.html) he invented. you may be able to deploy some of the worcestershire sauce in that direction.

It was you who gave me the Worcester love recently. I rarely touch it but when I do.... I can see why half a litre is almost enough :)

And I have to try brown steak now....

Perfect. The right brand. IMHO far better than Lee & Perrins.

If you can, try to find some Montreal Steak Spice. We buy it in 825g packs (I suppose you could get it in those wussy, piddly little spice jars, although one of those would last only a week or so in this household) and it goes on any meat we're cooking (except bacon).

I'm envious. I can't seem to find any gluten free worchestershire sauce in Canada, and it's driving me nuts. It all has malt vinegar in it. GRR.

I think mine has malt vinegar in it, too. I didn't think gluten would survive the acid process.

Apparently Lea & Perrins do a glutin-free. I don't buy L&P, they're not Holbrooks.

Lea & Perrins is gluten-free in the US, but not in Canada - don't know for other countries. But yeah, malt vinegar is definitely not gluten free. :(
