Of the various Masters there have been Ainley is my favorite. There was just something about how he played it that I felt was right. A mutual respect, fighting among equals, a kind of Holmes/Moriarty relationship. Of course the fact that I could very easily double for him in our Dr. Who fan club back in the 80-90s didn't hurt either. At more then one PBS fund drive a friend and I would face off as The Master and The Doctor(Tom Baker) helping to put our group in the top 10 for funds raised. Great fun back then. Seeing that clip inspired me to make a few Dr. Who icons for LJ so expect to see them now and then.
