Beardies are usually a mid-grey, but they can change colour to suit the environment. They can't change like a chameleon, but they can change from very dark grey to pale yellows. They change to either manage heat absorption or to hide. When I picked up my dragon he'd been in dead grass for some time.

Handsome fellow!

My local vet has one in a nice large captive environment. He's always loads of fun to watch.

I've another friend who keeps them as pets. Hers are gorgeous too.

I'm allowed to keep one as a pet as long as I buy it from a registered breeder. It's illegal to keep a wild one, not to mention being unfair on the lizard.

They are all bred here (though it wouldn't surprise me to find that they could adapt to Florida).

I like lizards...from a distance. The ones around our house bite, and they don't like to let go once they do.

I got to hold one as well as some other little ones, and he was very passive but it was a cold rainy afternoon and he had bellied down in a puddle.
