She got media attention once (I think for the sex tape?), and it was noticed that she exemplifies a perfect combination of an enviable life and a complete personal train wreck the likes of which celebrity obsessions are born. It's one part hope that glitz and glamour are attainable by money alone and that this requisite money is still attainable in America today, and one part self-justification in one's un-glitzy and unglamourous life because, look, having it all clearly does not make this person suck any less or be any happier. Not that I think most people that pay her any mind think it through.
