Moon Landing full screen panorama

I noticed the dust around the astronaut's head is reflecting back to the camera. (arrows, below) It's reflecting light the same way reflective road paint does.

isn't that interesting?

It's called the Heiligenschein

It's a lovely shot of the dry Heiligenschein effect - again, I recommend a trip to sundog.clara.co.uk - actually, here's the link to the dew heiligenschein: http://www.sundog.clara.co.uk/droplets/heilig.htm - it's a neat effect to watch out for on a dewy morning.

Alas, Sundog doesn't cover the dry heiligenschein. You can also see it from aircraft when at low altitude - it appears as a vertical streak around the shadow of the plane, and is called the heligenschein streak.

Wow, just googled a bit and found out about the gegenschein - http://www.weather-photography.com/Techniques/gegenschein.php - neat!
