This is my Sigma 600mm mirror lens. The two internal mirrors (one parabolic, one flat) make it operate like a newtonian telescope, but with the light exiting the rear instead of the side. I bought it years ago for my AE1, but Canon decided to change the mounts for the new EOS series so the lens wouldn't fit my new camera. I was a bit sad about that. I now have a little adapter that will let me fix the FD lens into the EOS mount. All I need now is to remember who I loaned my tripod to...

What model EOS, Den?

I shot a pair of them my last 3.5 years before I left the newspaper, then they sat in my closet for 5 years---untouched. Sold them on e-Bay last summer...then discovered that my "middle-aged" eyes could no longer easily focus an SLR. (I'd bought an old, fully-manual dinosaur identical to my first 35, a Mamiya-Sekor 1000DTL---probably made before you were BORN. Focusing it inside a dimly-lit lodge room (I'm a member of the BPOE, a fraternal order) was absolutely impossible, so I had to go BACK onto e-Bay and buy ANOTHER EOS, this time a slightly fancier model, along with lenses and a big flash.

I love the fool thing, and believe me, I won't make the mistake of selling THIS one anytime soon!

(BTW, nice cloud shot! *grin*)

Ciao!
Jim

It's an EOS50E, with a 35-80mm zoom. I took that photo with the polarizing filter to make the blue a little darker.

I think I've finished with my Art phase and trying to do everything manually. Almost all the photos now are on the "auto-everything" setting or one of the presets. Autofocus is brilliant!

Hmmm... I'll have to see how that model translates to one we have here in the States. Canon calls its EOS camera line by ONE set of model numbers throughout the world---EXCEPT here in the USA, where they're ANOTHER set of model numbers.

I shot a pair of EOS Elan 2 (USA models); the new one is an EOS Elan 7 (which is something else everywhere else...) Have a 28-105mm metal-body USM, and a 70-210mm metal-body USM; also a 540EZ flash (and a few accessories). Took some KILLER photos at last year's MFM (major furrycon) with it, and will probably shoot it again at this year's MFM.

Felt like "old times" at the con; I shot almost 4 rolls of film in a short time, mainly during fursuit events. Haven't lost my "touch", either! *grin*

Keep posting your favorite shots, Den. Good photos are always enjoyed!

Jim

Here you go http://photonotes.org/reviews/eos-elan-7/

ElanII = EOS 50

My camera has an auto-flash, red-eye light, and a date feature I turned off because I can't stand the way it spoils a photo.

Oh!

A Schmidt-Cassegrain! Way cool. I've been thinking of buying one for my Nikons. Just remember: they tend to form "donuts" when shooting point sources of light.

I know about the donuts: you can see them in blurred backgrounds.

That photo is whacked! I can't tell what way up is. Maybe it would help if the picture was larger then I could make out details. Have you noticed how I do my pictures with a thumbnail?

my guess is, that, from the perspective of the camera, you're looking straight up..

unless you're talking about the second picture of the Lens?

Yes, the cloud photo is all up. It was taken at a >80 degree angle.
