The best meat pies in Australia are made at the Village Hot Bake, Dubbo, according to the judges of the national bake-off. The Hot Bake is my supplier of curry meat pies and sausage rolls. I notice a new chicken-and-apricot pie on their menu. Time to check it out again.

Date: 23 Sep 2003 10:22 (UTC)The best part was when he showed me the proper way to eat a meat pie: you take the pointed catsup dispenser, jam it down into the top of the pie, and proceed to half-fill the thing with catsup. Then you devour it. Yummy!

Date: 23 Sep 2003 18:17 (UTC)The Hot Bake does the nomal pie of minced beef and gravy, as well as steak and kidney, chicken and gravy, chicken and vegetables, curried meat, steak and mushrooms, steak and peppers, steak and bacon (aka steakan bacon), steak bacon and eggs, and a potato pie which is a meat pie with the pastry lid replaced by mashed potatos.
