Thanks for posting that.. I think that sometimes we all need to be reminded how beautiful and fragile it really is.

Btw.. you guys need some serious green down there. Care to borrow some? :)

Wow, is my home ever tiny. :) But that small, vaguely boot-shaped spot off the coast of Venezuela is *green.* Something about that makes me feel really good.

WOW!

Antarctica looks a bit like the moon o.0

That and I had no idea how barren Australia is o.o
You can see where I live in the sea of green that is the Eastern US :P I'm right below the lowest (lattitude wise) of the great lakes.
Interestingly, the state of Ohio is maybe about 3/5ths the size of all of all the British Isles :P and we are one of the smaller states.

Aus might look barren, but there is nowhere you won't find something living. It's great, mate!

I prefer this statistic: Texas is 2/3 the size on New South Wales. 8)

Thanks for posting this. On a mailin list I moderate, someone posted a link to a similar photo that shows what the earth looks like at night all around the world. Similarly impressive. I'm using it as my desktop photo right now.

I've seen that, too. It's a wonderful piece of photography. And Australia is so dark I can pin-point the town I live in.

Florida isn't dark but Jacksonville is a major city so it shows up wonderfully at the top of the east coast of the penninsula.

Wow, look at the lush verdant green up upper wisconsin! I live in the much lower less green bit:D! Any idea what that blue mass near to the Bahamas is? A hurricane? It is a great photograph, and doesn't need a Civ3 editor:)!

I like reminders that, from far enough away, at the right time of day, you can't see what we've done to the place.

Wow... you can actually see Puget Sound! It's a bigger bay than I thought.

The pictures must be summer-based; I know that much of the middle parts (of the US, at least)get
seriously green for at least a while in spring, and white in winter.

Niiiiiifty. Thank you for sharing! :)
