Date: 14 Apr 2009 15:16 (UTC)I do need a bit of help in American History, here. Does this article get it right? (http://www.alternet.org/story/132440/the_hilarious_hypocrisy_of_the_gop's_so-called_'tea_bag_revolution'/?page=entire) If yes, the protesters even got the intended association wrong.

Video of Skip forward to the good part past minute 2 about government controlling us through cable converter boxes and book burning. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwdOwgD5OsY&feature=player_embedded)
Even sillier, one of the uberconservative groups in the US launched an anti-gay marriage campaign called 2M4M (Two Million for Marriage) somehow missing that in personal ads for gays that "two guys seeking another for threesome". And also stupidly DIDN'T BUY THE DOMAIN FIRST. So another pro-marriage group snapped it up. More on the fail (http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_political/2805593.html)

[EDIT]: While it's not my favorite after-dinner reading material, people might be well-advised to drop by the Urban Dictionary before using slang expressions...

Date: 16 Apr 2009 06:37 (UTC)Yes, the conservative bloggers and such are hyping it up. And the liberal bloggers and such are working overtime to dismiss the whole thing out of hand. Reality, as in most cases, remains somewhere in the center.
Those who're smugly insisting this is a "Get Obama" thing: most of the actual hoo-rah is anger over the bailouts --- you know, the same stuff liberals were castigating Bush for just a year ago. The fact that the people shouting anger at "corporate welfare" are wearing Colonial-era costumes instead of tie-dyed t-shirts makes not a bit of difference.
One added concern of course is the worry over the exploding deficit, which WAS a problem for liberal bloggers and such a year ago...when Obama was not in the White House.
