For the five you you who still read Bugs, I haven't updated this week because I rendered myself into a corner. The script says Fly enters the A/C. No problem, I thought, until I actually started to compose the scene.

The A/C the Bugs are on is a hollow shell. It has no guts. To show Fly's adventures, I now have to build the interiors of the A/C.

...

Maybe not. I have to think about this.

For some reason I thought you were no longer doing Bugs.

Bad me.

For some reason I figured that you were too busy with other projects.

I still read it. :=3

BTW, have you seen my new test animation with LK and Altaica? It's accessible from my LJ.

I still read... and if the interior is anything like the ones I've taken apart, it's dark, damp, and the roof would be a series of horizontal pipes running lengthways through vertical 'fins' while the rest of it's just a flat tray.

I was going to say that myself. Given how dark it is inside an A/C unit you only need to assemble a few bits & pieces and create some shadows. By the time you've done that you may find the inspiration has come back.

I need a large rotating fan!

How about the technique you showed me to make the scrap metal augur? That was very easy to apply, and the result was fantastic. You could probably achieve the motion effect by having translucent fan sections at specific intervals.

Probably take you all of 30-60 minutes?

Heh, looks like you've got more readers than you thought!

I still read it, though I usually only check it on Saturdays, unless I notice that there's been a new update due to somebody posting on your forum.
(which won't help at the moment, due to that site being down...)

Speaking of things that haven't happened in ages, I plan to do some re-vamping of my story... that one about the furry me, that you were the only one giving me feedback. I'll let ya know when it's done, but I developed some ideas at AC that I will be incorporating into the story. In short, I found what furries worship, by walking into the Headless Lounge. And no, it's not humans. *Grins*

Hmmm... Other than sniffing tails (eeuw!), the only things I could imagine furries in a headless lounge worshiping would be large cooling fans and bottles of water---

(Ducking and running for cover!) *hehehe!!!* ]}>-D

Looking forward to seeing your revamped story. Email addy's in my profile. };-)

No ya don't.

This could be like "The Noodle Incident (http://thenoodleincident.org/)." Something that is only alluded to, but never explained. "Remember the time we went through the A/C?"

As others have said "My Bad". Once the links stopped so did my brain in remembering to go to the site. Oh joy, yet another back log to try and clear up.

What about...

a Deus Ex Rusthole, the wall has rusted above the A/C.
OR
The A/C has settled and no longer seals at the top.
OR
The A/C has been stuck into an existing window, so there are convenient gaps around the unit.

I know it's late to the party, but there really isn't a shortcut through the inside of an AC unit. I've been inside a hundred or so. Find a gap around the unit.

If it doesn't have a fresh air exchange damper door (which is now rare) and the filter and grille missing or ajar, there is a sealed barrier. They would have to crawl through the very small condensate drain which is usually underwater from a shallow P-trap.

The Bugs have to be splashproof, but I don't know about IP56 fully waterproof...

The A/C is a window unit mounted in the wall, not a split unit. The one I have at work has a fresh-air vent that pulls in fresh air from outside and runs it over the cooler. With the vent closed it recirculates the air.
