I blu-tacked the little camera to the dash of my car, set the exposure to 1 frame per second, then took the long way home. The sun set at about 5.30pm, and it was cloudy.

Dude! You're driving on the wrong side! ;)

Now we know where you live. ;)

Seriously, very neat.

This is neat. I think I would get lost easily in Australia. You guys have lots of open road without very many distinguishing features. Wide open spaces.

I forgot you live where they drive on the wrong side of the road. :) Nice little time lapse video though.

I've been meaning to do something like this.

Lessee... 1fps at 24 frames per second of video... so a standard 10 minute YouTube video lasts 600 seconds, which means that you could video a drive at 1fps whose maximum duration was 14400 seconds, or 4 hours. That's enough time to go 200 or 300 miles, depending on how you drive. Hmmm....

What? no! There's lots of hills! They're just very... low.

I could do the drive to Sydney in 2 x 10 minute videos

Very cool.

Now I have to see if I can do the same to my camera.

The drive from work to my house should be interesting, especially along I-76, the Schuylkill (mispronounced, intentionally, as Sure Kill) Expressway, and the North/South Freeway. :=3

The drive normaally takes 45 minutes or so.

Your area looks very much like parts of the rural southcentral US.

Very cool video. :)

Let's see, at the same rate, my video home would last maybe 15 seconds. :) And would be pretty boring, as it's almost entirely one street. :)

Hmm. I need to get a hand on one of those cameras... I could do the drive to Seattle that way, or put several together for a cross-the-US adventure.

What camera did you use?

My Canon SureShot will not do 1fps. I can slow it to 15fps, but that's it.

Canon IXUS80S. It has two times lapse settings: 1fps and 1fp2s.

Open roads, without many intersections. You're looking at one of the busy roads in this area. Further into the Bush it gets very quiet.

That video makes me nostalgic for living in the country. The city's great but sometimes I miss rural NSW. Can't wait to go on my geology excursion out to Orange.

I followed your journey home. But was confused until i realized they had installed a roundabout on the junction of Cobbora road and Wheelers lane. It is good to drive home a different way from time to time.

The roundabout is so new they are still building it.
