it means I must wear spectacles or corrective lenses at all times when driving a motor vehicle.

I used to memorise the eyechart while standing in the queue, then whip off my glasses and "read" out the indicated line on the chart when I went to get my license renewed every 3 years.

oh well, it's not the end of the world really :-)

and of course batty's had the 'S' endorsement for years longer than me, because he's *so much older* than I am.

Here, the drivers office also uses a machine that you look into that randomly rotates an 'E', and you have to say which way it's pointing. You couldn't cheat your way through that. :)

I don't think of it as cheating, after all, I never DO drive without my glasses.

I just think of it as a way of being ... err ... creative?
