The hardback of Terry Pratchett's "Making Money" finally hit the shelves here.

$49.95.

I'll wait for the paperback.

You mean THIS?

http://www.amazon.com/Making-Money-Discworld-Terry-Pratchett/dp/0061161640

It's really cheap here on Amazon. And it's $25. or so before the deals.

I think that makes for a cheaper book relative to exchange rates, yes?

Should I get it and bring it over to you, or at least send it from Sydney?

Yep, that. Amazon.co.uk got my business. I like the UK cover more. 8)

God_damn_. And I thought _we_ were being ripped off as far as book prices go!

The book prices here suck.

[livejournal.com profile] d_h's comment is "How odd, I bought [our copy] in Australia!" In Brisbane Airport, on special for about $30.

Oh yeah, that's reason #3 on my list of "why I'm not moving to Australia"...after the spiders and the snakes... I'd go broke buying books!

Amazon.co.uk is the Antipodean's friend.

Amazon.com is cheaper, but the covers are wrong.

I made an interesting correlation, paperback book prices started to skyrocket around 1983ish, interestingly enough, that was when our literacy levels started to drop.

I got my copy from Kmart for $18 for the hardback.

I usually do buy from Kmart or BigW, they have a discount for paperback books.

btw, if I haven't mentioned it before, I think you'll really like Jasper Fforde's books - starting with The Eyre Affair and going on from that. His Nursery Crime books (The Big OverEasy and The Fourth Bear) are good reading too.

if I have mentioned it before, why haven't you read them?

No KMart here, and BigW has a crap range.

You are the second person to recommend those books. I'll have to start reading them.
