I'm on the rescue phone today. Call#1:

There is a kangaroo in the waterfall pond in the Japanese gardens. I have to organize the rescue.

Why me? Why can't it be something normal?

About a truly unfortunate incident that occurred here in Pittsburgh, late last week: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07319/834179-384.stm

Yeah, unfortunate that PETA stuck their nose in ;)

That is very unfortunate. Many years ago the local zoo had a kangaroo jump into the tiger moat, which made the cats very happy but upset all the people who saw how "quite" these cats are where there is food to play with. There are no loose kangaroos in the zoo, now.

This is a new habitat for the polar bears. There's been some question about its security, especially for other animals--including --people--being kept out. Two stupid humans have been eaten by polar bears at zoos in New York over the past twenty years due to bad security.

Is it injured, or just "there"?

If the latter, who, really, is being rescued?

It's just there. Something spooked it so it jumped in. They do that in the bush when threatened by dogs, so when the dog swims in the roo drowns it.

Maybe you should get it a snorkle and a mask and it can pretend that it's a carp?

Ok, Ok, bad suggestion. Shouldn't they be calling the zoo vets as well?!
They have that kind of high tech removal equipment iirc......
