Bek died in my hands about 10 minutes ago.
I noticed she was a little sluggish last night but she ate well. I checked on her this morining and she seemed ok.
I looked in on her just now and I could see she was sitting on the floor in distress. I picked her up.
She settled down, sighed, and died.
I'm pretty gutted.

asking only
for a bowl of food, a soft hand,
and a piece of your heart.
They go on their own time,
in their secret ways,
taking your heart with them
to heaven
Who can say that there isn't magic in the world, when the untimely death of a tiny bat on the other side of the planet brings such an outpouring of sympathy? I'll hold Bek in my thoughts all day, and probably longer. Thank you for sharing her life with us. Waugh, and now I'm crying. :[
