What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

Hmm, my English was shaped in Germany at school and by a 1-year stay in England where I had friends from England, Scotland and France mostly. When I went on a trip to the US the next year, someone told me after a conversation: "I know you are not American, but I have not a clue where you do come from." Heh! :)

My friend from Cologne came to Australia to learn English. After two years with us she could use terms like "Have a barbie", "Chuck a you-ie" and "No Worries" like any Aussie. Back at university her professor told her "You have the WORST English accent I have ever heard!"

Once during a lecture they were analyzing a poem by T S Elliot (I think) that had been translated. The poem was about a beutelratte, and everyone assumed she'd seen one. The professor showed her a photo, and she said "OH! That's a wombat." They thought she was making it up.
