176! That's a long time! The zoo here has a pair of giant tortoises but I think they are less than half as old.

It also says she was mistaken for a male for a hundred years... hmm, how could you miss a hundred years of egg laying for an animal on display? I had a pigeon we thought was male until she layed an egg... I wonder if that is how they figured her gender or if they finally had tests to determine tortoise gender 75 years ago.
