The Mysterious Geographic Explorations Of Jasper Morello

I have just finished watching The Mysterious Geographic Explorations Of Jasper Morello, one of the animated shorts nominated for an Acadamy Award. It's great! It's the sort of thing you'd get if you let [livejournal.com profile] ursulav mix Gearworld, gothic steampunk and CGI Animation.

It's just finished up here. I've got to get a copy of that on DVD. Supposedly, it's Episode 1 in a planned series.

I suspect that Anthony Lucas spent some time playing the Myst series of games. The falling body sequences were very like the opening scene in the original Myst, and some of the sound effects sounded like they'd been lifted from the games.

I'll have to get the DVDs too. It was jolly good.

You might enjoy Steamboy (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348121/)... really a very fun exploration into what if the age of steam had continued on for quite a bit longer.

I like the generally dark look to much of what I saw in this 6 minute trailer

I love the way things are mostly done in silhouette form. (from seeing the trailer)

The people are all in silhouette, the world and machines have some shades of grey to give them depth.
