Photos - Kingfishers

I rescued these two sacred kingfisher chicks in January. They went on to someone who could care for them and were rehabbed to release. Which is nice.

What lovely colors, already. Kingfishers are among my favorite bird types.

Look at those tiny birds behind those great big beaks!:)

I've watched American Kingfishes fish for minnows, and the only way you can be sure they caught one is to see a bit of minnow tail outside beak's edge, through a pair of binoculars. How they see these tiny fish from a distance underneath the water of a rolling river has always fascinated me.

I love how they dive into the water and bounce out, without appearing to touch the water.

Did you mean to type scared or sacred? Or both?

In Canada - we have the Belted King Fisher on our five dollar bill.

I got that - I was trying to be witty in suggesting that the little birdies may have been frightened too, considering their situation.

Thanx for the link!!
