Something, most likely a grainy product like a breakfast cerial, has introduced pantry moths into the food cupboard. Now I have to keep my Weet Bix sealed in Tupperware to keep them safe. I don't care about those other sugary things everyone else likes as long as my Weet Bix are safe. I think the moths may have come in a bag of nuts-and-bolts museli.

Pity you don't have any winged creatures in your care. They could nab the moths for you.

I'm curious, have any of them come accross flies or moths while being exercised and hunted?

You don't need winged creatures ... the asian house geckoes and huntsman spiders in my home just love moths ...

Too dry here for geckoes, but huntsmans abound. But Mum doesn't like opening the food cupboard and being surprised by a spider.

Think of the shock the poor spider would get. Peacefully snacking on a juicy moth when suddenly there's a lot of light and screaming ... and Boris isn't there to protect her from that large pink thing that's creating all the noise and commotion.

I've been seeing a lot more huntsmans since the Grosby ad. Maybe they all want a backrub.

For those that haven't seen it, here are links to the award winning Grosby Shoe advertisement in Quicktime and Windows Media formats.

Gaaaahhhh, I hate those. I've had to purge my pantry several times, because the bird seed from the store is often infested. The budgies couldn't give a darn about moths in their food, but I do.

Incidentially, someone reccomended I get some stuff from this guy for my budgies: Budgie Butter (http://www.budgieworld.net/budgie_butter.htm). It looks like birdy Vegimite!

It's not just budgies that eat bark. I've seen galahs and rosellas nibble great chunks off certain trees. I'll have to cheeck out this budgie butter.

They've got a bunch of nice stuff, even if the kangarro hide and gum nut chew treats seems a bit like overkill. I'm trying to decide if it's worth having shipped over here. If the stupid featherheads live that long. He's feeling amourous, and she's not impressed. It's very loud in here.

Diatomous Earth is a non-toxic way to kill soft-bodied insects and some of the hard bodied ones too. Their joints get scratched and they dehydrate to death. Farmers often use it on food crops because it gets cleaned out of the grain with the other dust and is non-toxic.

Try bay leaves

Afer an outbreak of weevils in flour, rice, breakfast cereals and similar I followed a suggestion to put bay leaves in everything. No more outbreaks since.

The weevils seemed to have no problem getting inside sealed plastic containers - everything was infested.

The leaves don't affect the taste of the items.

I'll give that a go. I'm using stickytraps to catch the adults but they're not catching all of them.

Along with the rest of the dry cereals in the pantry - take a long hard look at the state of the drinking chocolate or cocoa, particlarly if it comes in the cardboard and cellophane packaging. Nothing is sacred, the little sweet-toothed based are happy to play house in this stuff.

At least they won't be flying at you from blocks away demanding food and shelter from the fearsome world.

Rather they will be screaming in death agony via the wet sponge, etc or confined for months until they meet their doom at the hands of hungry bats:D.
