Looks like a massive storm is about to hit. I hope Polly will be okay at home; she doesn't like thunder.

I was at work, but now I'm home. Polly hid in the kennel. Scruffy was soaked and looks like he had a good time in the wet. Puggle is safe inside.

I have considered getting a couple of kittens lately because I am not physically up to any traveling for awhile. Until I read your post I had forgotten how attached we become to our critters, even the little toads in the garden. I am going to think some more about what would be a good pet. I am disabled with a bad ankle, so a dog to walk would be good. I have a long wide house for the animals to run around. That's why I thought about cats. Got any other ideas?

All I can suggest with dogs is to get a breed that can take with being cooped up. Polly is a blue heeler and needs a yard and walkies. She loves her walkies and takes me for a drag most days. Scruffy is a silky/maltese terrier cross, and likes walkies but not too much.

I guess I didn't ask my question correctly. I was wondering what kind of animal I could get that would rule out dogs.

apart from dogs I don't know much about pets. I don't own cats for environmental reasons.
