(no subject)

The US Air Force is testing new transparent armor.

It's made of Aluminium. Transparent Aluminium. No one is laughing at Scotty now.

You could do a Braveheart to the enemy and not worry about an arrow in the bum.

Stories like this bring a grin to my inner geek. Now if they could just make it self-cleaning, and apply it to eyeglasses, the world would be a much better place.

I hope they figure out how to make eyeglasses from this... no more scratches!

That would also depend on its refractive index. If it's too far from normal glass then making the lenses might be impossible. Coatings could still work though.

I must admit the idea of glasses made entirely out of metals does attract me (Titanium frames and aluminium lenses) as they would be light and incredibly tough.

Oh, wow... I know some people who just HAVE to see that! (Or maybe they won't, 'cause it's transparent!)

Have the best
