Video

Just watched The Emporer's New Groove.

It was wacky. It was zany. It was kooky.

It sucked.

Most of it made me feel the writers had watched too many Road Runner cartoons (the early ones, written by Mike Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones).

And, as with all other DizCo animated movies, I get the feeling there will be an Emporer's Newer Groove some time soon, just to wring the $$ out of a dead horse. SOB.

From the fact that you think this is a bad thing, I believe I can tell why you disliked the movie.

Hey now - I hate Road Runner cartoons, but I really enjoyed the movie. True, it was wacky, zany, and brain-dead... but I thought it was funny, which made up for a lot. After having seen it several times, I don't even get twinges at the utter historical innacurracies anymore... =9.9=

I also dread the Return of the Groove, or whatever they're going to call it, because it's pretty guaranteed to be a straight-to-video suckfest. I have this great idea for a plot - which they aren't going to use, because it's DisneyCo, the same company responsible for the wallowing behemoth of crap that is Hunchback of Notre Dame - II! The first one wasn't hideous enough, they had to go and make another one.

The 'Ode To Roadrunner' was a big part of what I liked about the movie. I try to pretend the direct-to-video stuff doesn't exist. Walt Disney is spinning fast. He hated the very concept of sequels. But I rather liked Hunchback. Hey, at least he didn't get the girl. *simper*

He does in the sequel. A new girl is introduced specifically for him to get. I've only experienced the awfulness in previews... but it disturbs me deeply.

DisneyCo proudly presents - Moby Dick! An all-star cast tell the heartwarming tale of budding friendship and environmental awareness, as the great White Whale teaches Ahab important lessons about respecting all life on Earth. Don't miss the great musical numbers by Phil Collins, Sting, and Celine Dion!

SINGING!

I feel a rant coming on...

I love the road runner! I laugh myself stupid every time, even though I know all the jokes.

But in Groove it's like the writers didn't know what makes a road runner gag funny, they just copied them.
