Two eastern grey joeys.


In the wild they stay alone in the pouch, but in care they often feel stressed enough to climb into someone else's pouch for comfort. These two, and two others, are acting as older siblings to the one I rescued last week. Together the five of them will form their own mob and will all be released at the same time to preserve the mob-structure. But for now, cuteness.

In preserving the "mob-structure," do they offer "protection" to the local koalas?

"Hey, Joey, dis is a pretty nice eucalyptus tree he got."

"True, Joey, dat's very true. It'd be a shame if sumthin' were to happen to it, now, wouldn't it?"

"It sure would, Joey. Which is why we're going to offer generous terms for protectin' it. So's nothin' happens."

They say bushfires are caused by lightning, but it's more like "Hey koala! That's a really nice but highly flammable tree you're living in. It would be terrible if it caught fire. Wouldn't it?"
