My cook-fu deserted me tonight. There was far too much carbon in my honey soy chicken, and the rice was under done. Even my muffins set off the smoke alarm, dammit.

I'm going to stick to eggs and bacon tomorrow.

I've had that problem with my honey lemon chicken, not too long ago. Since then, I've learned the secret. The sauce is made by using a very low heat and cooking for most of the day, stirring it every 15 minutes to a half hour, and the chicken and veggies are flash-fried... where the oil is incredibly hot (like around 180f) and you drop the chicken peices into the pan, flip them around quickly for about 5 to 10 minutes (when it looks golden brown)... then fold in the chicken to the sauce. After that, you stir-fry your veggies, mix them around in the oil a few times for maybe 3 to 5 minutes. All you have to do after that is serve it with rice or chow mein noodles.

Most importantly, don't give up, just remember that cooking is like any artform or skill, it takes practice to be good at it. }:=*)

When my smoke alarm goes whilst I'm cooking I simply think...

Better a smoke alarm that goes off occasionally when you don't want it to than one that doesn't go off when it's needed.
