I found out today that dunnarts have 10 nipples in their pouches. The joeys must be the size of pin-heads.

Okay, at first glance I wanna say, "Awwwwww...kyoooot!". But then after a moment, the scientist in me goes, "Hmmmmmm. Those eyes may look cute, but they're facing forward on the head."

That is not the configuration of a seed-eater, that's the configuration of an active predator. They're not quite binocular, but they're not the usual side-to-side of prey animals.

I am not sure I think of them as "carnivorous possuums" or a "marsupials with attitude" - nice pictures. I am jealous, I have never managed to see one live.

They'd be there. There are 19 species of dunnart here, and there is no place without at least one. 8)

The cute factor didnt' enter into it. I saw those eyes and the tail, which for some reason suggested something reptilian about it, and realized there were probably sharp little teeth in that mouth. It looks like an alien. You guys sure have some oddities down there.

Don't see why it's being a predator would bother anybody (well, anybody bigger than a mouse anyway). Kittens are predators and they're cute!

Kittens don't eat 80% of their body weight every night. I wouldn't mind an infestation of dunnarts. It would mean you don't have other things, like cockroaches, spiders, mice etc.
