Date: 5 Mar 2005 10:42 (UTC)One of the unique sounds on a submarine (well a US boat anyways) is the 400 cycle power used in the verious syncro/servo systems on board (Sonar, Navigation gyro's &ct...) I'd imagine there's some of that in the radar systems you've worke don over the years too...

Date: 5 Mar 2005 11:23 (UTC)I do recall that about 20 years ago there was a half-hearted proposal to route 400 cycle low voltage power around the equipment rooms as an adjunct to the standardized -50V DC feeds.
