We have a Rampaging Wombat in town!

Dubbo isn't wombat territory, and the zoo hasn't lost their's. We don't know where it came from or, as I write, where it is. I'm on the rescue phones at the moment, waiting for a cry of help from someone being menaced by this rampaging beast.

I wonder if Digger made another wrong turn.

EDIT: Looks like the wombat is headed back across the river to the West Dubbo Bowling Club greens.

Ah yes, raging wombat... wombat barbarians!

In seriousness though, I don't know if they do or not but if they're like badgers over here in the states, they will if they get cornered.

Broiled, baked or fried?

(And should there be GRAVY...?)

Wombat Recipe

1 large pot
1 deceased wombat
2 granite stones

Put the wombat and stones into the pot, cover with water and bring to the boil.
The wombat will be ready to eat when the stones turn soft.

(Digger is going to kick your bum!)

First, she has to CATCH me...and even though my legs don't work all that fast, my little CAR can outrun those stubby little wombat legs---

*hehehe*

*laugh* Actually, one of the things I've heard about wombats is that they have quite an astonishing turn of speed over the short run for something that looks like a brisk waddle should be as fast as it can go...

Heh! It never ceases to amaze me how otherwise-lethargic critters
can, when the need arises, suddenly shift into a hyper-drive/Superman-type of activity, at least for a few moments. Seeing a frumpy little lizard suddenly erupt into a hind-leg-sprinting track star, or an ordinary-looking little beetle literally pry your grasping fingers apart and climb out of your clinched hand...

Ahhh...! Nature at her best---!

(And thanks for your intriguing, amusing Digger story. I never miss an update!)

Regards,
Jim

Hee! Reminds me of the stone soup story (http://stonesoup.esd.ornl.gov/stonesoup.html).

Tasty stones!

Then again, I think I'd be scared of stones that got soft with boiling!

The real worry is the wombat will set up home under the bowling club green. If that happens many Auld Pharts In White will have heart attacks at the destruction.

Carrots delicious!!

(No carrot in Dubbo is safe!)

I'd be worried about all the gardens in the roaming area of the wombat if I were them...........

There were a lot of BBQs and dust baths in the area Womat wandered through. I hope it didn't end up in a garden.
