The peewee I took to the zoo yesterday has fractures all the way to, and including, the pelvis. The zoovets well be euthanasing him. Life with one leg is one thing, but months of pain and rehab is another.
I don't often respond to your posts, but I avidly follow all your animal/rehab tales. Outcomes like this are sad, and I suppose it must feel as though you are just running your head into a wall over and over again. But you do great work and have good reason to feel proud. I'll be raising one in honor of you and all the peewees tonight ... or, okay, this weekend, 'cause I have a boatload of client work for tonight and tomorrow. :)
I'll be having a few myself. I know I lose a lot of the rescues I do, but ALL of them would be lost if someone hadn't intervened. My fellow rescuers all have the same level of success ie they lose more than they win. But the occasional success makes up for it.
