Ten things I've done I don't think any of my friends have done.

1. Raised an echidna from baby to release.
2. Stood for 2 hours with my left leg wrapped to the knee in a bag because there was a 6 foot long diamond python up my pants.
3. Stood under the stars in a place so dark, Venus cast a shadow.
4. Held a bat that weighed less than 1 gram
5. Imped a Wedge-tailed Eagle
6. Mined for black opals in Lightning Ridge
7. Stood on the flight deck of HMAS Melbourne
8. Touched a Zero that bombed Pearl Harbor
9. Helped the zoo vets dart an angry wallaby, before breakfast
10. Appeared in News Of The Weird and a Hombrewer's Journal AND a Norwegian newspaper, all because of something I did.

Supplementary: 11. Peewees.

Worst Game of Cricket Ever! :)

The cricket balls were pretty horrible, too.

Wow....impressive! Number 2 comes close to my idea of a living nightmare (yes, I'm a silly girl that is scared of snakes.....bit of childhood trauma involving a rattlesnake, but that's another story)! Would love to be able to experience Number 3, and Number 10 just made me laugh! I'd like to share that one with my mom (AKA "Shadow Vixen" in LJ-Land).

The snake was very calm and relaxed UNTIL she was touched, then she constricted my leg. There was no way we could remove her when she was like that, so we bagged my leg and waited for her to come out. Of course, she loved my warm skin and almost settled into my pants leg permanantly. I had to wait until she felt safe enough to leave.

Lots of cool experiences! ^_^ But two hours with a python up your pants? Why the wait?

She was frightened and we couldn't remove her without also removing my leg, so we waited for her to come out of her own accord.

Oooooh. Where was 3? It makes me happy to know there are places like that at all; I hadn't been sure it was bright enough there ever *could* be.

I keep wanting to do this meme, but damn my friends are too interesting. I've got nothing to this.

The farm I used to live on was 10 miles from the nearest town, and that only had 5 streetlights. The nearest town after that was 30 miles away.

That's lovely, if maddening for things to do.

There are places that remote which I drive through on my longer road trips, pulling over my car and sitting on the hood to watch the stars in the middle of the night, but there's usually still a cell tower in sight, and enough trees on either side that it ruins a bit of the effect.

One morning when I had to be up way-too-goddamned-early, I actually mistook Venus for an airplane, it was that bright. And that was in a city, with all the light pollution!

Thanks for linking to the Beer Bat story; I have it in my Memories list now, which is a lot easier to find than Googling up the old a.c. post.

I've stood under stars that bright, but otherwise I can't even come close. Which does not surprise me. :)

I have, however, mined for diamonds in Crater of Diamonds State Park in southwestern Arkansas. :)
