I saw some clouds similar to the second pic right before a thunderstorm on a return bus trip some years ago. Pink branch lightning happened to occur in front of it and it was immensely cool. Gorgeous, in fact, even if it was pre-tornadic.

Yoinks! Lots of turbulence in there. Makes pretty pictures, but one wonders what is the cause.

It's the tail end of a thunderstorm that hit just before sunset.
