Bottlebrush. California highways have them planted all over. We don't see them up here in northern Oregon at all.

Haven't seen an Indian Paintbrush or a Columbine in forever, but they aren't as big or nearly as vibrant in terms of color as the bottlebrush.

Indeed, these are immediately outside my window. The hummingbirds really like them.

The nectar feeders here love them. They attract the native birds (wattle birds, friar birds, fairy wrens, willy-wagtails, flycatchers), but don't appeal to the imports (sparrows, blackbirds, starlings).

Which is nice.
