This is the peewee with the "Ow! Ow! My Wing Is Sore! Help Me Or Regret It" wing, and a member of the local peewee family. He hung around, mooching for meal worms, until I turned my attention to an injured magpie chick. After that his wing got magically better and her flew off.

Makes sense, really. Birds are naturally adept at the "broken wing" trick. Consider mama getting predators away from her babies in the nest...

Now, they know there's a great source of mealworms ripe for the picking out your way, so they put their heads together, and look what they came up with!

Who says "bird-brain" is an insult?!
