Nothing wrong

Quite often I get calls from people who tell me they've picked up a bird and that there's nothing wrong with it. So how did they catch it? "Oh, it has a broken wing."

I'm sorry to tell you this, but if the bird has a broken wing then THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT.

Sheesh. What is it with these people.

Probably the same people from (hopefully) urban legends where they return almost trashed up stuff they purchased for replacement..

With fawns, you get both extremes, from the fawn that had gone through a thresher ("just a small cut on it's back" turns out to be a whoppin' big deep gash and a few amputated toes) to the "abandonned" fawn who got stuck in a bush while trying to get away from her kidnapper. I get a lot of "abandonned" fawns.

I once watched in amazement at someone trying to convince a grocery store manager to take-back a jar of spaghetti sauce because the customer didn't like mushrooms (it says, of course, "MUSHROOM SAUCE" all across the front label of the jar.) The customer contended that the manager could simply return the opened jar to the shelf and re-sell it. I often wonder something: if I gave such people a good slap upside their head would they "reset?" It would be tempting to try it, ahem... };xD
