According to Telstra I am too far from the exchange to get ADSL I'm 3 km from the exchange. Hmm...
However, I can get ISDN. Hmm.
Not overly happy, especialy when I know houses in other parts of the town more than 3km from the exchange do have ADSL. I can't help getting the feeling that I got the "uneducated masses" explanation.

Date: 20 Oct 2004 00:35 (UTC)Have you been given an actual explaination of why you can't get it? The explaination I was given in my case was DSL-L2 incompatible with PSTS product - which has turned out to be a load of garbage, since I'm on a regular PSTN service.
If you can get somebody to tell you what the system actually spits out, you might be suprised at how easy it could be to sort it out.

Date: 20 Oct 2004 03:44 (UTC)When I ring Telstra I have to call the local people because they know the conditions. Today I got someone who insisted that I could get FOXTEL cable, and wouldn't listen when I said it's only AUSTAR via microwave.

Date: 20 Oct 2004 20:32 (UTC)* Dubbo exchange has approximately 700 ports available.
* Are you possibly on any of the following RIMs that are part of Dubbo ESA:
SAPPA BULGA RD
RIFLE RANGE RD
LONSDALE RD
PEAK HILL RD
MACQUARIE ST
ASCOT PARK RD
HILL PEAK RD
HENNESSY DRV
WHEELERS LA
MACQUARIE ST
You might be able to get ADSL after Christmas if you are. I pulled this directly from the list of RIMs that are proposed to be enabled.
* RIMs at the following locations have been enabled:
COBBORA RD
YARRANDALE RD
PURVIS LA
MERRILEA RD
If your RIM isn't on either of the above lists, or you're not actually part of Dubbo ESA, you may have a problem...
