CCNA2, Possums, bugs

Just spent my day doing CCNA2 text book readings, online modules and exams. More of the same tomorrow.

I was woken at 7am this morning to rescue some possum joeys, but they went to someone else's house. The mother was caught and killed by a cat, and the little joeys died later. Bugger.

Opossums

Funny how few yanks know that they're actually called "opossums."

I rescued one once, when I found it lying at the end of our driveway. Turns out it had been hit by a car the night before (no external sign of trauma, though). I called opossum rescue, thinking it might have rabies (common in that area). They told me that the opossum's natural body temperature is too low to harbor Rabies, and that makes them essentially immune to it!

The poor guy expired before they could get there, but at least he died on a blanky in a quiet, warm place. }:x(

it's true! You have opossums, we have possums. These little fellows were Ring-tailed possums (http://images.google.com/images?q=ring-tailed%20possum&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi)

Those little buggers are adorable! Nothing like American Opossums. Oh, and *everyone* here calls them "Possums." In fact, when I say "Opossums" most people look at me like I'm crazy.

They must be small, those ringtails. Our Opossums are so big that they'd shred a cat! Even the skunks give them a *wide* berth.
