Boobook rescue
4 September 2004 13:23I have a little boobook owl ninox boobook inna box. He was found in a groggy state at the base of a huge window, immediately below a feathery-imprint in the glass. He's very cute* and is starting to look a little better after some quiet time in the box. Both feet grab the gloves well, his pupils are expanding and contracting at the same rate and his wings work. If the Owl Lady gives me the okay I'll let him go tonight.

Owls
Date: 4 Sep 2004 05:40 (UTC)When I got my first infrared night scope, I went out about midnight to see how it worked. One of the first things I spotted was a pair of enormous glowing eyes in a tree. They looked like spotlights. I turned-on the infrared illuminator to better see what I was looking at, and it was a very large owl. All the reflective bits in the back of its eyes were doing their job, and bouncing the IR right back at me. After about a minute it took off, wooshing directly overhead.
