You would think that I'd be spending my 'tween semester break being productive. You know: writing and stuff. But no! I'm just farting about with test renders, long sessions of Caeser 3, and hacking at a web page to see if all the links work and to figure out how it all fits together.

The source looks unusually complicated. The bloke who wrote it got to this stage and stopped. I'm on a sort-of retainer to keep it maintained. I am in need of web design software. Can anyone recommend something not Frontpage?

I use editplus. It's pretty much free. It asks you to buy it but that won't stop you from using it. Mine is currently 130 days overdue for the trial period and I haven't had any problems.

Officially, we use Dreamweaver (http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/) at work (30-day trial version available). I use UltraEdit (http://www.ultraedit.com/) for almost everything, though, and it's about a tenth the price.

Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla1.8a1/) has something for generating HTML code. I have no idea how good it is. Tucows (http://www.tucows.com/htmledit95_default.html) has a metric buttload of stuff I can't vouch for either.

I use Adobe GoLive.

I first used it to rebuild a giant commercial site that had been originally developed (and properly mangled) with FrontPage. The FrontPage site stopped working after being transferred from a host running a case insensitive OS (Windows NT) to a host running a case sensitive OS (Linux).
