blaaaagh

It's in, after shifting bunches of stuff from e:

Trouble is, GRUB and LILO don't work and I don't know why. It boots into linux, but if I select the DOS option it barfs with error 0x01.

I got C: and windaz back by booting from floppy and fdisk /mbr. So I lose linux. No prob, really. I just boot linux from floppy and we're in. My next trick is to get linux to see ttys1 (com2) and the modem.

Yes, I have created a user account. No, I don't run everything from root. But I'm not stupid enough to think I know everything simply because I own the CDs

The guy reviewing RedHat 7.2 for The Register (http://www.theregister.co.uk) had a lot of problems. (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/22533.html) RedHat's quality control has never been particularly good, and they seem to screw up every second or third release completely.

I've had similar problems with Red Hat. I got version 6.1 back when it came out, and had no end of trouble with it. I finally gave up on it as useless, maybe due to the fact that the PC I have sucks, mainly because I put all my real money into the Mac ;)
