That's deforestation. Defenestration is the act of throwing someone from a window.

The only time I've ever seen that word used in context was in a book. They were talking about using it as a political technique.

When I first found it I think I was more amused because I'd just learned what the word meant not long before getting to that passage. One of those "you don't know something then you hear it everywhere" things.
