I'm monitoring the animal rescue phone today. Nothing really interesting has happened.

The Forbes Shire Coincil drained the lake and now dozens of tortoises are scrambling across the road to where the water is, and "Can you send someone to help?"

There is a brown snake in a back yard. still waiting for the snake bloke to call.

A wild bearded dragon has disrupted a bbq by "sitting in the back yard and hissing!" The people are safely locked in the house. You'd think some people have never seen a lizard before. Oh, wait...

It may not be very interesting but if there aren't many animals needing rescuing then thats a good thing!

Oh, and nice comic!

Grin. A friend of mine had an iguana when she was a kid. The critter was pretty much allowed to roam the house and got quite large (still very tame). One day she asked at school if she could bring in her pet iguana and was given permission provided all her teachers agreed. They did so, presumably thinking (hands a foot and a half apart) "iguana". She then came in the next morning leading on a leash (hands as far apart as they'll go) "IGUANA". General reaction "that's not an iguana, that's an alligator!" :) She spent the day demonstrating how the critter could do things like bite a whole head of lettuce in half, and an entertaining time was had by all. Hopefully including the iguana.

Gee... scared of a bearded dragon? But they're *cute!*

Ya know every time I scroll past this entry, and it's title.... I'm reminded of my mom's computer. See Mom has a desktop publishing company called "The Silver Chameleon", so sitting on top of her computer screen is a lovely little stuffed chameleon....

What she doesn't actually tell anyone (she does prefer to see if they figure it out for themselves),......

[livejournal.com profile] oceansedge waits for someone to figure out the punchline to this true tale.....

Den,

Old editor friend of mine just sent me a "Tooheys New" TV ad. It finishes with the logo "What Mates Do". Is this an Aussie beer/ale?

If so, have you seen the one with the *apparently* opposing teams in
a pub, doing a "macho bottle opening" contest? HILARIOUS!!!!

I want THAT woman on MY team---!!!!

That is an Aussie ale, very yummy when quaffed cold on a hot day.

And that ad cracks me up every time I see it. Can you pass it on to Mako, or give me a url for it?
