denWoomera, Coober Pedy

Miles and miles of bugger all, looking due west at Ingmar. Over the horizon in Western Australia, about 1000km away.
Coober Pedy
The chimneys sticking out of the ground are air vents for the houses. There are 3 houses in the foreground.

Desertscapes
Date: 29 Jan 2004 21:22 (UTC)I love those underground houses. Seems to me I saw a nice National Geographic spread on them in the late 1960's. I'd love to live there; I'd build a small observatory dome at ground level and have blessed unobstructed viewing nights with my dust-gathering telescope. Oh, and I'd be able to see the Southern Cross, which of course I can't see from the NA continent.
