More bombings certainly in the short term in retaliation. Baathists will wither on the vine, hard core wackos and foreign Arabs (Saudi and Egyptian mainly I think with a melange of sub Sharan loons joining in too) will continue to pot shot at us and generally cause chaos for the forseeable future, but at a much reduced frequency.

Still fantastic news regardless!

CYa!

What next?

Hopefully the same thing that happened after German Admiral Karl Doenitz signed the surrender: Most of the SS decides, okay, the war really is over and goes home. A few hardcore wackos keep going for a few years or so but with no generally recognized leader to fight for lose steam.

German Gureilla activity continued until 1948 but the last wackos were eventually hunted down by the Germans and that was that.

I hope that's the result. I'd like to see a peacful Iraq and the soldiers come home.

I don't think the whackos realised the true effect of what they were doing. Instead of driving the allied forces out, they pissed them off and made them more determined to stay.

Mako is right. This is good news. The Iraqi reporters in the new conference certainly seemed happy.

Now what? Now the US military decision makers will announce that since the primary objective has been achieved, there is no more need for Our Boys to be over there getting killed and wounded, and will withdraw all forces from the area. This will leave Iraq in much worse shape than before we arrived, fomenting further hatred of the US.

But but we're going to "reconstruct" Afghanistan Iraq, aren't we? GWB said we would...

Now what?

We, in the U.S., get a moron for a president for 4 more years with more tax cuts for the wealthy and a huge budget deficit. *sigh*

God, ain't that the truth...

It's a sad day when your response to the capture of an admittedly Very Bad Man is "CRAP! Not another four years!"

Now the Unelected Fraud has a sudden, undeserved boost to his credibility just when his poll numbers had started dropping, just in time for election year.

Then he goes to trial.

Now, we work even harder to keep Bush from being re-elected, as this will help him a LOT.

The American Sheeple continue to buy GWB's act and re-elect him.

GWB will use OBL as an excuse to remain in Iraq in the "interest of Iraqui freedom" (I.e. they have more oil than they need, and seeing as how they are getting all this free money to rebuild, what's a few million gallons between friends?:P). OBL is no the perfect excuse to remain to protect our vital interest (oil).

I didn't vote for him. He *stole* his office, and he knows it.

Until now, it looked like they actually might have started a movement to IMPEACH. We can expect a patriotic media frenzy and a show trial to distract us from *that*. And we get to see him go "Nyah" at all the countries who refused to be involved.

I heard it yesterday while shopping and started singing along with it and didn't care if people thought I was a loonie:

"WAR IS OVER IF YOU WANT IT! WAR IS OVER NOW!"

-John and Yoko/ Merry Christmas.

Makes me wish I had a chip that blocked out anything with Dubya in it.
