Date: 14 Dec 2003 04:30 (UTC)Hopefully the same thing that happened after German Admiral Karl Doenitz signed the surrender: Most of the SS decides, okay, the war really is over and goes home. A few hardcore wackos keep going for a few years or so but with no generally recognized leader to fight for lose steam.
German Gureilla activity continued until 1948 but the last wackos were eventually hunted down by the Germans and that was that.

Mako is right. This is good news. The Iraqi reporters in the new conference certainly seemed happy.

Date: 14 Dec 2003 06:05 (UTC)Now what? Now the US military decision makers will announce that since the primary objective has been achieved, there is no more need for Our Boys to be over there getting killed and wounded, and will withdraw all forces from the area. This will leave Iraq in much worse shape than before we arrived, fomenting further hatred of the US.

Date: 16 Dec 2003 10:25 (UTC)GWB will use OBL as an excuse to remain in Iraq in the "interest of Iraqui freedom" (I.e. they have more oil than they need, and seeing as how they are getting all this free money to rebuild, what's a few million gallons between friends?:P). OBL is no the perfect excuse to remain to protect our vital interest (oil).
I didn't vote for him. He *stole* his office, and he knows it.
Until now, it looked like they actually might have started a movement to IMPEACH. We can expect a patriotic media frenzy and a show trial to distract us from *that*. And we get to see him go "Nyah" at all the countries who refused to be involved.
I heard it yesterday while shopping and started singing along with it and didn't care if people thought I was a loonie:
"WAR IS OVER IF YOU WANT IT! WAR IS OVER NOW!"
-John and Yoko/ Merry Christmas.
Makes me wish I had a chip that blocked out anything with Dubya in it.
