I remember when Lasers started appearing in a big way. At first they were a Lab thing that scientists played around with. "Hey! We can bounce them off mirrors on the moon!" was pretty cool. "Hey we can make holograms!" was bloody amazing I wanted the one that exploded things. Scientists had them. The thing went ZAP and the target went BLAM! I wanted a laser, preferably in a handy gun so I could explode things. ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!

Now I have 3 lasers. 3!

Two of them are mounted in little boxes, and shine through revolving mirrors. They create a flat disc of red light and are used to take levels during surveys.

The third is on a key ring and is used to point at screens and things.

What a let down.

The keyring lasers are WONDERFUL "critter toys"---

Dogs and cats LOVE to chase the little red dots, and will spend hours doing so.

If you want to "calm down" rowdy, noisy neighbors (whom you don't like anyway) simply "dot" one of them (outside at night, from a secluded, dark vantage point) with the thing, and when somebody notices it...have an assistant rack the slide of a pump shotgun or large-caliber pistol (.45s work best). Then watch them scatter like quail!

Of course, there IS the rather "questionable" SOCIAL and LEGAL ramifications of such an action, as well as the very real risk of having one or more of the rowdies opening fire in your direction...

HAHAHAHA!!!!

(And I realize that this "activity" is not possible in certain parts of the world, due to laws that only allow criminals to possess firearms...)

Ducking and running for cover---
