*wail* But...but...but....I _love_ them */wail*

It's true - they're one of the animals I always make sure I visit when I go to the zoo. Along with the giraffes. And the orangutans. Can't visit the elephants - they make me too sad.

But hairy nosed wombats are unbearably cute. No, really.

The common wombat is in no way threatened. It's just this species that's endangered.

*sigh* Poor things. Very few species successfully come back from so few. The Northern Elephant Seal did, but it's got a very narrow genetic profile, which puts it at risk for disease.

"...Elephants are kindly
But they're dumb
Orangutans are skeptical of
Changes in their cages
And the zookeeper is
Very fond of rum..." -- Simon and Garfunkle

The size of this wombat is surprising.

They're just solid balls of muscle with an armoured bum. "Biceps with pick-axes" is the best description I've ever heard.

"Biceps with feet" indeed.

Hmm.. A biceptual wombat. Sounds... kinky. ];-)
