It's true - they're one of the animals I always make sure I visit when I go to the zoo. Along with the giraffes. And the orangutans. Can't visit the elephants - they make me too sad.
But hairy nosed wombats are unbearably cute. No, really.
*sigh* Poor things. Very few species successfully come back from so few. The Northern Elephant Seal did, but it's got a very narrow genetic profile, which puts it at risk for disease.

I can get you a shoe cleaner that looks like a wombat. The body is made of stiff bristles you scuff the sole of your shoes over to dislodge mud and stuff.
